"Lint"

Author   Daniel McCaffrey

A book of poems written in the period 1966 to 2009.

My working title was "Lint on the Mantlepiece" until I realised that a lot of people would not know what a mantlepiece is.

Lint is the small gleanings of fibre which gather and fall from the nap of cloth.
The lint holds in its fibres the woven pattern of a interleaving of thread and weave.

Some ideas, notions perhaps even revelations push their way to the forefront of one's mind and it is these musings, this lint of life that I have sometimes captured in these poems.

To me poetry arises from a distilling of experience and thought leavened and enriched by life.
Poetry is the essence, the core of an enduring truth in thought.

In this collection of lint are the remembrances of people I have met, places and events I have been part of.

This small volume of poetry is the lint gathered from the nap of a life.
